David M. Sides, PMP, Vice President - Sogeti USA, LLC will be discussing Sogeti's model of best practices for the design and implementation of Project Management Offices called the '5x5 Approach'.  This set of best practices identifies five specific initiatives across five key PMO support areas:  Knowledge Management, Business Management, Methods Management, Risk Management and Resource Management.  There are 25 specific best practices identified in the seminar that can raise the business value of any PMO.

This presentation will answer the following questions:

  • Are you looking to improve the benefits of your Program Management Office (PMO)?
  • What business benefits are achievable through more effective project management?
  • What can you do to get better results with the same people and budget?
  • How can EPM tools, such as Microsoft Project Server enable the implementation and operation of all 25 initiatives?
This discussion will also provide examples of how PMO successes are achieved, the attributes of value-enhancing PMOs, and how to address the gap between your PMO today and where it could be in the future.

Enhancing PMO effectiveness will help you to reduce business risk related to projects, focus efforts on valid requirements and stop 'scope-creep', and identify deficiencies in your current project management approach.  It will also improve credibility in the eyes of your customers, utilize resources more efficiently, create a positive culture around project management, and enable your organization to capture best practices and promote a learning environment.

Mr.  Sides has been a PMP since 1999 and has over 20 years in IT, domestic and international Program and Project Management, and Business Process Improvement consulting across multiple verticals, including Financial, Banking, Insurance, Pharmaceutical, Telecommunications, Automotive, and Transportation.
