Date: Friday, October 11 -
8:45 AM to 12:00 PM
Location: 2 possible locations:
Farm location will be determined 3-5 days before the event
Max: 20 volunteers needed, members and their families
(adults and children over 14)
Job Name: Help harvest (or glean) fruits and
vegetables at the farm, which will be provided to those in need
A typical day of volunteering (rain or shine) at our Clinton area farms looks something like this:
- 8:45-9am: Arrival. Groups are encouraged to come early and bring breakfast to get the energy needed for the day ahead.
- 9-9:15am: Hard start time is at 9am. We begin with a brief discussion about AGAR, our programs, and why volunteers are so important in the fight against hunger.
- 9:15-12pm: Volunteering in the fields to harvest a crop. We wrap up the event by telling you the total pounds of produce harvested, which is always exciting!
- Groups are always welcome to bring lunch and eat at our picnic tables afterward.
America’s Grow-a-Row’s mission is to positively impact as many
lives as possible through a volunteer effort of planting,
picking, rescuing, and delivering free fresh produce.
Volunteers age 14+ are welcome. No previous experience
required. All instructions and tools are provided. Come
dressed for the weather and to get dirty! If you have a passion
for getting healthy food to our neighbors in need, we want to
see you out in the fields!
Volunteers are reminded:
- Dress for the weather and to get dirty (hats, sunglasses,
rain jacket, etc.).
- Bring a filled, reusable water bottle. We have a water cooler available for refills.
- Wear sturdy closed toed shoes.
- Bring any sunscreen or bug spray needed.
- Bring your own garden gloves or we provide disposable gloves.
Thank you for volunteering to support the AGAR mission of
providing healthy food to those in need!
